Job Summary:

Southwark s Libraries & Heritage service delivers on the council s commitment to place residents at the heart of everything we do. The library service promotes reading learning and inclusion through provision of books and other resources to all in the community through its network of 12 libraries.

We are recruiting for a van driver to undertake delivery of books to satisfy customer reservations and movement of stock across the borough to all library sites and associated venues.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

The post holder will be required to travel across the borough daily and contribute towards the operational running of the library service ensuring we meet the needs of the community.

The post is physically demanding and requires driving for long periods of time with the ability to carry boxes of books and audiovisual items.

The role requires a commitment to the council s promotion of equality diversity and inclusion and involves contact with other library staff and all sections of the community including young children teenagers and people from different cultural backgrounds and with varying disabilities.

Essential Experience Required:

Experience driving for long periods of time with the ability to carry boxes of books and audiovisual items is essential.

Essential Qualification Required:

Having a qualification in general education is desirable.

Additional information to note:

Working hours: 30 hours per week.

The post holder should have a full clean driving licence and will be required to pass the Council s driving test.
