STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The purpose of the job of a Structural Engineer is to design analyze and ensure the safety and functionality of structures such as buildings bridges and other infrastructure. Structural engineers apply principles of physics and mathematics to create safe and efficient structural systems that can withstand various loads and stresses over their lifespan. The Engineer I Structures will get to design and review the design of various types of structures including bridges tunnels underpasses retaining walls car parks and public infrastructurerelated buildings/structures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Detailed structural design of bridges tunnels underpasses retaining walls car parks and public infrastructurerelated buildings/structures.
• Produce design drawings calculations reports and specifications.
• Supervise other engineers and CAD team as per project task assigned.
• May supervise subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
• Provides technical guidance to younger engineers.
• Ability to utilize standard engineering principles techniques and analyses to complete conventional moderately complex assignments within the structure discipline.
• Working knowledge of engineering software packages associated with the structures discipline.
• Track the progress of the assigned design and report to the Senior and Principal Engineers of the status and any issues that may arise during the design development.
• Support other engineering activities as required by the senior and principal engineer.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
• Be selfmotivated and require minor supervision on committed tasks.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors Degree in Structural Engineering and 3 years of related work experience.
• Masters Degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
• Possession of internationally recognized engineering licenses such as PE SE and CEng is highly preferred.
• Must be MME registered.
• Work experience must be related to HANDSON DESIGN of structures.
• Intimate knowledge of the following software: Midas Civil CSi Bridge SAP2000 Structural Bridge Design (Auto Desk) AutoCAD Bentley RAM connections/elements Prokon.
• Intimate knowledge of following design codes Ashghal IAN009 and other structural design related Interim Advice Notes British Standards Eurocode AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• Familiarity with Revit software.
• Businesslevel English language skills sufficient to produce wellwritten reports with organized structure and minimal need for grammatical corrections and to hold articulate verbal communications.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally on technical and nontechnical subjects.
• Minimal interfaces with Clients but provides inputs to others working on the same project.
• Nativelevel English speaking and writing skills
