An Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting departments daily operations ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and maintaining the integrity of financial records. This role involves managing a team of accountants coordinating the monthend and yearend close processes and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The Accounting Manager also plays a key role in budgeting forecasting and providing financial insights to support strategic decisionmaking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management:
- Supervise mentor and develop a team of accountants providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.
- Oversee the daytoday activities of the accounting department including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and general ledger functions.
- Conduct performance evaluations identify training needs and support professional development for team members.
- Financial Reporting:
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Review and approve journal entries account reconciliations and financial reports prepared by the accounting team.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- MonthEnd and YearEnd Close:
- Manage the monthend and yearend closing processes ensuring all financial data is recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and review closing schedules accruals and other necessary adjustments.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with senior management to prepare and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze budget variances and provide insights to management for informed decisionmaking.
- Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules providing documentation and addressing audit findings.
- Develop implement and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policies.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead or participate in the implementation of new accounting systems tools or process changes.
- Special Projects:
- Lead or contribute to special projects such as system upgrades financial analysis or process reengineering initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field; CPA CMA or MBA preferred.
- Experience: 7 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
