A Corporate Controller is a seniorlevel executive responsible for overseeing the overall financial management and accounting functions of a corporation. This role involves managing the accounting team ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting developing and enforcing accounting policies and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The Corporate Controller plays a critical role in strategic financial planning budgeting and risk management working closely with the CFO and other senior executives to support the companys financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and tax compliance.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor the companys financial performance providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Financial Reporting:
- Lead the preparation and presentation of consolidated financial reports for internal and external stakeholders including quarterly and annual reports.
- Ensure compliance with SEC reporting requirements if applicable.
- Review and approve all financial statements and reports prepared by the accounting team.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Develop implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the companys assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process working closely with department heads to develop accurate and achievable budgets.
- Oversee the preparation of financial forecasts and analyze variances between actual results and budgeted figures.
- Provide strategic financial insights to support business decisionmaking and longterm planning.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage mentor and develop the accounting team ensuring high performance and professional growth.
- Set performance goals conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and training.
- Foster a collaborative and highperforming work environment within the finance and accounting departments.
- Strategic Planning:
- Work closely with the CFO and other senior executives to develop and implement the companys financial strategy.
- Participate in strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions capital raising and corporate restructuring.
- Evaluate financial risks and opportunities advising management on potential impacts to the companys financial health.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and improve accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency accuracy and scalability.
- Lead or participate in the implementation of new accounting software or system upgrades.
- Risk Management:
- Monitor and manage financial risks including credit liquidity and operational risks.
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage and compliance with financial covenants and other contractual obligations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
- Experience: 10 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 5 years in a senior management role preferably as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
