Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
Plan and deliver differentiated instruction that caters to various learning styles and abilities.
Use evidencebased teaching strategies and resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress strengths and areas of need.
Regularly monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals adjusting instruction as necessary.
Communicate student progress to parents and guardians through regular updates and progress reports.
Establish and maintain a positive inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote a safe and productive learning environment.
Foster a classroom culture that encourages respect cooperation and mutual support among students.
Work collaboratively with general education teachers specialists and support staff to provide comprehensive support for students.
Participate in IEP meetings parentteacher conferences and other schoolrelated meetings to discuss student progress and needs.
Maintain open and effective communication with parents guardians and colleagues to support student success.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and instructional strategies.
Participate in schoolwide training and professional development opportunities.
Ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations related to special education.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of student progress IEP implementation and required reports.
Experience you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Valid Illinois teaching license with certification in Special Education.
Demonstrated experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferably in an urban school setting.
Strong knowledge of special education laws IEP development and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
