Job Description

Job Type : Contract Location : Chicago Illinois Pay : Competitive Pay Job Description

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Plan and deliver differentiated instruction that caters to various learning styles and abilities.
  • Use evidencebased teaching strategies and resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress strengths and areas of need.
  • Regularly monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals adjusting instruction as necessary.
  • Communicate student progress to parents and guardians through regular updates and progress reports.
  • Establish and maintain a positive inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Foster a classroom culture that encourages respect cooperation and mutual support among students.
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers specialists and support staff to provide comprehensive support for students.
  • Participate in IEP meetings parentteacher conferences and other schoolrelated meetings to discuss student progress and needs.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents guardians and colleagues to support student success.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and instructional strategies.
  • Participate in schoolwide training and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations related to special education.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of student progress IEP implementation and required reports.

Experience you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid Illinois teaching license with certification in Special Education.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferably in an urban school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws IEP development and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
