About the Role

As a Clinical Dietitian with Explore Med Staffing Solutions you will be an integral part of the food services team providing nutrition care to residents with a focus on health wellbeing and quality of life. You will work independently and collaborate effectively with other members of the care team to deliver quality healthcare services. The Clinical Dietitian ensures that all required documentation regarding residents' nutritional status is complete and accurate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Nutritional Care: Assess and develop nutritional care plans for residents focusing on maintaining quality of life and consulting with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. Consider multicultural and sociocultural religious food requirements.
  • Documentation: Communicate and document nutritional care plans to Food Services and Care Service Teams.
  • Therapeutic Diets: Use knowledge of therapeutic and modified texture diets to support resident safety and nutritional status.
  • Clinical Assessments: Complete clinical assessments including intake weight management dysphagia assessment and wound healing within the appropriate scope of practice. Liaise with external resources as needed.
  • Resident Care: Participate in resident care conferences clinical team rounds and act as a nutritional resource for residents families and caregivers.
  • Policy and Procedure: Maintain knowledge of and apply current facility policies and procedures related to residentcentered care.
  • Committees and Programs: Participate in Food Services facility committees and educational programs. Collaborate with Food Services Management to meet departmental and nutritional standards.
  • Menu Development: Participate in the development and approval of cyclical menus.
  • Budget Management: Work within the department's budgetary constraints and recommend programs or services to improve resident care and departmental operations.
  • Quality Improvement: Promote and participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives related to resident care and dietetic practice.
  • Professional Development: Maintain knowledge of new trends in clinical dietetics through current literature and educational sessions. Maintain contact with dietetic professional organizations.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to guidelines of the Protection of Persons in Care Act and practice in accordance with all guidelines set out by the Alberta College of Dietitians. Follow Aramark’s Workplace Safety policy.
  • Preceptorship: Act as a preceptor to dietetic interns as requested workload permitting.

What You Bring

  • 4year Bachelor's degree in Nutrition from an accredited university/college
  • Graduate of an accredited Dietetic Internship Program
  • Temporary Registration or Full Registration with a provincial Regulatory Body for Dietitians (College of Dietitians of Alberta)
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Good leadership and time management skills
  • Member of Dietitians of Canada
  • Food Safety Certificate
  • Experience in a continuing care facility (an asset)
  • Experience in dysphagia management and assessment
  • Conditions of employment include busy hospital and outpatient settings from patient rooms/floors to kitchen/serving areas
