SCOPE

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer the Manager of Labour Relations will lead a team of HR professionals providing specialized advice services and support in labour relations compensation and disability management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and provide expert guidance to a team of HR Advisors Workplace Health Specialists and a Compensation Specialist.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for collective bargaining and lead negotiation of collective agreements.
  • Assist management in resolving labour relations issues grievance procedures and arbitration.
  • Foster positive and collaborative labourmanagement relations.
  • Develop and oversee corporate HR policies and procedures ensuring compliance with legislation.
  • Manage compensation functions including survey participation job evaluation salary structure development and analysis.
  • Ensure compensation programs and policies comply with legislative requirements.
  • Stay informed of best practices and trends in labour relations disability management and compensation.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in Human Resources or a related field with a minimum of 710 years of related HR labour relations and compensation experience (preferably in a public sector union environment).
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of professional employees.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law labour law Human Rights legislation and collective agreements.
  • Strong ability to build and enhance strategic partnerships with managers unions and employees.
  • Exceptional negotiation and mediation skills with a proven track record in resolving grievances.
  • Excellent written skills for drafting contract and policy language.
  • Proficiency in complex data analysis and research.
  • Experience in managing HR projects and programs and developing and delivering training to managers.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
