Functional Safety Engineer

Position Overview: L4B Software is looking for a Functional Safety Engineer/Lead with over 7 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in functional safety MCAL CDD integration and AUTOSARbased ECUs along with expertise in Vector stack & BSW diagnostics and communication protocols.

Purpose of the Position: As an experienced Functional Safety Engineer you will be involved in all levels of product development from strategic planning partner/supplier selection reviewing Functional Safety Statements of Work (FuSSOW) to initial concept design and stages of development through to production launch. This role involves interfacing with various groups including electrical engineering mechanical engineering customers and suppliers/technical partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Functional Safety Management:
  
• Plan and manage safety test activities (Safety plan) according to the scope of each specific vehicle project.
  
• Drive the development of functional and technical safety concepts within subsystems software and hardware.
  
• Lead functional safety engineering activities for product development teams and develop technical work products.
  
• Codevelop impact analysis and recommend inclusion of accurate safety criteria in system design and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
  
• Support the implementation of functional and technical safety requirements in all parts of the vehicle system design.
  
• Align safetyrelated topics with suppliers and customers.
  
• Safety Analysis and Planning:
  
• Conduct and document FuSa impact analysis and safety plans at the vehicle level.
  
• Develop and maintain hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA).
  
• Develop and maintain vehiclelevel functional and technical safety concepts.
  
• Support the development of verification and validation strategies within subsystems software and hardware (e.g. hazard and risk assessment (HARA) FTAs DFMEAs functional safety concept and technical safety concept for systems with safety goals or ASILclassified requirements).
  
• Collaboration and Coordination:
  
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration and safety compliance.
  
• Monitor and conclude ECU supplier FuSa activities as per the vehicle safety plan and development interface agreement (DIA).
  
• Review and technically accept ECU suppliers FuSa artifacts as per DIA requirements.
  
• Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  
• Ensure that projects are developed according to quality standards (ASPICE compliant).
  
• Prepare and approve safety cases as per ISO 26262 requirements for lifecycle updates overtheair updates (ORU) and ECU changes.
  
• Develop and integrate functional safety standards and industry common practices into corporate processes according to ISO 26262.
  
• Ensure technical specifications and other work products are prepared stored correctly and revisions are managed and released in a timely manner.
  
• Ensure that safety plan activities meet program timing.
  
• Continuous Improvement:
  
• Build knowledge harmonize processes and improve quality management system activities.
  

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech in Electrical Software Engineering Applied Physics Mechatronic Engineering or related field.
  
• 7 years of experience in functional safety engineering particularly in the automotive sector.
  
• Knowledge of system safety activities and deliveries according to ISO 26262.
  
• Documented experience in conducting HARA FSC TSC and safety system engineering with ASIL C and ASIL D.
  
• Proficiency in MCAL and CDD integration.
  
• Extensive experience with HPC and AUTOSARbased ECUs.
  
• Expertise in Vector stack & BSW.
  
• Knowledge of diagnostics and communication protocols (CAN Ethernet Flexray).
  
• Good knowledge of embedded realtime operating systems.
  
• Fluent in English both spoken and written.
  
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in an international crossfunctional team.
  
• Proficiency in C/C and coding standards such as Automotive MISRA or similar.
