Job Description

1. Who are We

BioCompute is an early stage deeptech company enabling the transition towards biomolecule based data storage and computation. Backed by gradCapital Emergent Ventures and the Sustainability Mafia we are building cutting edge tools to make DNA data storage affordable.

Founded by Anagha Rajesh a BITS Goa Chemistry graduate with past experience in scientific projects and venture building we are currently based out of the Center for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (CCAMP) in Kodigehalli Bangalore.

2. Why are we building BioCompute

Our data production is growing exponentially our existing data centre infrastructure is struggling to cope with these needs in a nutshell we are running out of space to store our data. Given the failure of Moores Law silicon based storage systems cannot become exponentially more efficient so we need radically different alternatives.

In addition data centres hog tons of energy and water and are unsustainable for our planet. Here is where DNA steps in to bridge the gap. With a massive storage density (15 TB per cubic millimeter) and longevity (1000 years) DNA needs to be the storage alternative to hard drives and SSDs.

3. What roles are we hiring for

We are an interdisciplinary team of young people with a supportive work culture and we are excited to bring in new folks in the following roles MEMS and microfluidics engineer (preferably one person who can do both but also open to two amazing folks with expertise in each of these domains) and a generalist role. We would like you to join us as early as possible.

A. MEMS Engineer

What does this role entail

Design the electronics components of nanopore sequencing on a microfluidic channel. This is an important component of the storage hardware we are building.

Work closely with the microfluidics engineer and the nanofabrication facility at CCAMP to fabricate the hardware

What are the perks

Work at the bleeding edge of storage and microelectronics technologies enabling a firstofitskind integrated storage hardware

A healthy work culture that encourages curiosity and out of the box thinking

Compensation corresponding to industry standards experience and technical acumen

Shared accommodation facility at a distance of 1 km from the work space

Who are we looking for

An ideal candidate would be someone who has worked on MEMS projects in a biologyrelated domain or otherwise. These projects could be academic industrybased or even home lab based as long as you were actively involved in handson work.

Ability to identify read and analyse relevant research literature

Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively both in oral and written formats

Selfmotivated individual who works well in a team and is open to giving and receiving honest feedback

* We are not concerned about what university you went to what degrees you have or your grades in college.
