Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Theatre Scrub Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Theatre Scrub Nurse you will play a critical role in providing highquality perioperative care. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the efficient and safe execution of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Surgical Procedures: Prepare and maintain the sterile field and ensure all necessary equipment and instruments are available before and during the procedure.
- Prepare the Operating Room: Set up and sterilise operating room equipment instruments and supplies in accordance with established protocols and infection control practices.
- Maintain Sterility: Vigilantly monitor and maintain sterile conditions throughout the surgical procedure ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with the Surgical Team: Work closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and efficient workflow during surgeries.
- Manage Surgical Instruments: Handle and manage surgical instruments and supplies with precision ensuring they are ready and in optimal condition for use.
- Monitor Patient Safety: Assist in positioning and prepping patients for surgery ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
- Documentation: Accurately document surgical procedures instrument counts and any incidents or irregularities.
- Adhere to Protocols: Follow hospital policies protocols and safety guidelines to ensure the highest standard of care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in nursing.
- Licensure: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in theatre scrub nursing or similar surgical settings.
- Certification: Certification in perioperative nursing is highly desirable.
- Vaccinations: Uptodate with annual flu and COVID19 vaccinations.
- Work Rights: Must have full work rights in Australia.
