Estimating Assistant

At Ground Control we are currently seeking a motivated and detailoriented Estimating Assistant to join our team and support our efforts in winning new work in line in Landscape Construction.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Estimating Assistant you will:

• Assist a team of Estimators in the creation of competitive tender submissions.

• Read and understand drawings and specifications to accurately help prepare estimates.

• Communicate effectively with suppliers subcontractors estimators designers engineers and architects to obtain necessary information for comprehensive and accurate bid responses.

• Review designs for alternative materials and prepare estimates in accordance with guidelines

This role is mainly a remote based role that can be worked on from home however it would be useful to be able to travel to the Shifnal office occasionally to meet the rest of the team.

The person;

This is an entry level role so we dont require any specific educational qualifications or experience however any experience in construction or landscaping your be advantageous along with a familiarity with reading and understanding construction drawings and specifications.

Above all we are looking for the following skills and abilities;

• Strong analytical and observational skills.

• Excellent attention to detail

• Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to interact effectively with suppliers subcontractors and the wider estimating team

• Organizational and planning capabilities to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Ideally you will also be proficient in the use of computer software programs including some of the following but this is not essential

• OnScreen Takeoff

• Bluebeam

• Microsoft Word / Excel / Outlook

• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to perform duties wherever necessary.

• Maintains confidentiality of company customer supplier and employee information.

• Openness to learning new skills and methodologies.

• Strong people skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

• Proactive and selfmotivated with a positive attitude towards work

• Willingness to pursue relevant professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in estimating and construction.
