Shift Operation Engineer - Nomac

People Management

Supervise the activities and work of the team members during the shift to ensure that targets and objectives are achieved and the business plan is delivered in line with the required policies processes procedures and systems.

Operations Management

Monitor plant performance and provide operations engineering support dealing with all process / operational related matters and activities during the shift to ensure optimal plant operations in a timely manner.

Oversee the day to day activities of shift staff and manage all plant operating activities ensuring they are executed in a safe and efficient manner so that the operational area meets required targets.

Review all current work instructions SOPs processes and procedures and recommend necessary changes to the Operations Manager ensuring process efficiency and optimization of resources.

Monitor operational performance and make quick decisions to correct abnormalities or disturbances taking corrective actions during a state of emergency.

Coordinate with all other departments for activities that are related to plant operations during the shift and ensure their timely execution as per the plan.

Technical Guidance

Provide technical expertise and support to the team advise on optimization of operations for each unit in accordance with NOMACs HSE policies and procedures to meet required standards.

Implement special testing programs as necessary to evaluate and resolve process problems review operating logs process control printouts daily/weekly/special reports and participate in the analysis of respective causes of problems recommending changes or alterations to operating parameters in order to avoid recurrence of problems.

Maintenance Support

Collaborate with Maintenance team during the shift and ensure that any minor / major activities like commissioning and startup activities are completed in a safe manner as per the established plan.

Ensure strict adherence to all relevant HSSE and permit to work system instructions and controls and procedures are complied with so that the safety of employees and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.

Relationship Management

Develop and maintain effective business relationships with all relevant internal departments and external contractors while promptly attending to all critical technical issues inorder to ensure the services required by the organization are delivered in the most effective manner.

Represent the plant in all technical meetings to handle any escalated technical matters to ensure timely resolution of issues.

SAP Administration

Administer SAP processes within the operations section and ensure adherance to SAP guidelines in all related aspects of annual and monthly planning scheduling data management such as breakdowns review corrective maintenance notification creating work orders and planning in order to ensure data/system integrity in line with NOMACs defined standards.

Ensure all system documents are up to date in order to comply with NOMACs quality standards.

Health Safety Security & Environment

Monitor the adherence to all relevant health safety security and environmental procedures instructions and controls so that the safety of employees and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.

Ensure that all accidents incidents or near misses occurring during the shift are properly reported as per established procedures.

Manage an emergency during the shift as per the company emergency response plan until relieved by a higher authority in order to ensure minimum impact of the hazard.

Policies Processes Systems & Procedures

Adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies processes standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner.

Continuous Improvement

Contribute to the identification and implementation of change initiatives programmes and projects in line with the organisations standards.

Related Assignments

Perform any other duties which the line manager may require to be carried out.

Internal:

Needs to work closely with Operation Manager Shift Supervisors CCR Operators/ Engineers Chief/shift Chemist Planning Engineer Maintenance Team HSE Engineer Purchaser Store Keeper etc.

External:

Needs to build a rapport with relevant contractors and vendors

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor degree holder in Engineering.

Minimum Experience:

8 years experience in water desalination and power generation plants with 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.

Skills:

Knowledge of relevant plant equipment

SAP working knowledge is preferred

New IMS system awareness/working knowledge is preferred

Project Management

Mentoring coaching and people management skills

Knowledge of the operations in water desalination and power generation plants and of NOMAC operations

Strong planning organizing and integration skills

Team work and effective collaboration skills
