Project Overview
This PhD position is one of multiple positions within a larger project aimed at optimizing spatial omics analysis for a variety of biological applications. Your research will primarily focus on the integration of spatial omics data working closely with leading experts. including the Martin Guilliams lab and the Chris Marine lab.
What you will do
- Analyze and integrate spatial omics data generated from advanced technologies such as MERFish Vizgen MACSima Miltenyi and 10X VisiumHD generated at the VIB.
- Develop new computational methods and tools for spatial omics data analysis.
Profile
Essential
- You obtained a Masters in Computer Science Artificial Intelligence Bioinformatics Physics Engineering Bioengineering or equivalent.
- Background in AI (deep learning probabilistic modelling generative AI) or machine learning
- Proficient in Python or R programming
- Strong communication skills in English
Desirable but not required
Preference will be given to candidates with experience with
- experience with processing scRNAseq or spatial transcriptomics data
- experience with highperformance computing and software containers
- a background in systems biology
