Candidates that were interviewed failed because of the following: poor communication inability to clearly articulate Business Intelligence experience and Inability to manage multiple projects; in some cases they showed a preference towards application development projects rather than a focus on business intelligence projects. Candidates for the second posting fell short of the overall skillset required for the project. THEY ALSO LACKED BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE. They also did not convey the level of expertise for a certified PM3 and their soft skills were weak.
The DCF Child Care Child Welfare section seeks a resultsoriented and adaptable individual with a cando attitude to lead business intelligence projects for our business partners. This project manager will lead multiple projects from minor to multimilliondollar development efforts. The project manager will work with other project managers in DCF and possibly with other State of WI Departments such as the Department of Administration (DOA) and the Department of Health Services (DHS). The person in this role will lead the business intelligence development team members to complete projects and work closely with our business partners to ensure their success.
The individual in this position will:
- Be responsible for technical and overall project management on enterprisewide business intelligence applications and architecture. Develops project charters plans deliverables and other project artifacts.
- Work closely with the project sponsor and IT senior management to understand and prioritize project tasks. Solve complex technical problems. Understand business objectives and issues identify alternative solutions perform feasibility studies and cost/benefit analysis of alternatives in support of enterprisewide business intelligence.
- Build an effective team and direct the project teams work to meet project milestones. Develop standards policies and procedures for the business intelligence documentation tools and systems form structure and attributes. Develop data/information quality metrics.
- Develop and maintain project charters plans deliverables and other artifacts.
- Work closely with the project sponsor and IT senior management to understand and prioritize project tasks solve complex technical problems understand business objectives and issues identify alternative solutions and perform feasibility studies and cost/benefit analysis.
- Research new technology and develop business cases to support enterprisewide business intelligence solutions. Participate in special projects as required.
- 12 years of project management experience with leading large and complex database management systems business intelligence tools and systems.
- The candidate should have strong communication skills and be a team player.
- Candidate must follow ALL DCF work rules and be available to perform all work during Central Standard Time (CST) business hours 9:00 am 3 pm (or CST hours as defined by the hiring manager)
