Job Overview:

As a Medical Biller you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently submitting medical claims to insurance companies and government healthcare programs. Your role is crucial in ensuring timely reimbursement for services provided by the healthcare facility. You will work closely with healthcare providers patients and insurance companies to resolve billing issues and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Claims Submission:

o Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies Medicare Medicaid and other payers.
o Ensure claims are coded correctly using ICD10 CPT and HCPCS codes to reflect services provided.
o Verify patient insurance information and eligibility for coverage.

2. Billing and FollowUp:
o Review and process claims for accuracy and completeness before submission.
o Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims to ensure prompt resolution.
o Investigate and appeal denied claims as necessary to secure reimbursement.

3. Payment Posting and Reconciliation:
o Post payments received from insurance companies and patients to appropriate accounts.
o Reconcile payments with accounts receivable records and resolve discrepancies.

4. Patient Billing and Customer Service:
o Generate patient statements and invoices for services rendered.
o Assist patients with billing inquiries explaining charges and insurance coverage.
o Set up payment plans or arrangements for patients as needed.

5. Compliance and Documentation:
o Maintain uptodate knowledge of healthcare billing regulations and compliance requirements.
o Ensure all billing and coding practices comply with HIPAA regulations and other legal requirements.
o Keep detailed records and documentation of billing activities and communications.

6. Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with healthcare providers administrative staff and insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
o Communicate effectively with patients regarding financial responsibilities and billing inquiries.

Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Medical Biller or similar role in healthcare.
Knowledge of medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Familiarity with billing and coding practices including ICD10 CPT and HCPCS coding.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g. CPC CPB) preferred.
