The Role

As a SCADA System Engineer you will be part of a major transformation program updating and relocating services into a new dedicated secure Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) Data Centre. In this role you will lead various workstreams to test and provide detailed reports of each functionality testing supporting the line of business services in an onprem CNI Environment.

You will be the lead Functional and integration testing and support server & storage network and security features within the Team and liaise with stakeholders from Group server & storage network and security components as well as CNI operations and line of business delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Test the functionality of each feature of this SCADA System to meet functional and nonfunctional integration requirements.
Perform options analyses against emerging technology standards and business strategies.
Ensure Test reports within the Team are created and reviewed to a high standard.

Provide guidance and support to Team members and ensure adherence to architectural standards/principles global productspecific guidelines usability design standards and other forms of good practice.

Provide guidance and support to a line of business projects requiring deployment in the CNI Data Centre.

Your Profile:

Key skills/knowledge/experience:

Ideally 7 years of significant experience providing SCADA configuration and maintenance.
Experience in Power System Operators (Control Room Staff) and an expert in Power System Analysis.

Experience seasoned SCADA providing Testing.
Ability to understand the functional aspects of SCADA and support in Functional and Integration testing.
Ability to understand different protocols interfaces and integration layers.
Ability to understand Web Interfaces API protocols etc.

Excellent technical architecture skills enabling the creation of futureproof complex global solutions.
Excellent interpersonal communication and organisational skills are required to operate as a leading member of global distributed teams that deliver quality services and solutions.
Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of the organizational model unique to National Grid and facilitate work with groups outside the immediate technical team.

Good to have:
Expertise in Power System Analysis.
Maintain close awareness of emerging technologies and their potential application for service offerings and products.
Desirable experience with cloudbased systems Kubernetes microservices containerization VMs etc
