Sr Automation Engineer

Job Description:

This role is responsible for delivering ISA95 Level 2 and potentially some Level 3 supervisory control solutions and related systems to industrial customers. It includes project management to ensure that all systems are deployed according to the specified price quality and schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver ISA95 Level 2 and possibly Level 3 supervisory control solutions.
• Manage ancillary processes and systems.
• Conduct analysis architecture design development deployment and management.
• Typically based within the customers Engineering/Operational Technology (OT) or Maintenance organization.
• Sometimes referred to as an Automation Engineer or Controls Engineer.

Capabilities:

• Technical Expertise:

  • Indepth understanding of edge/hybrid/cloud device/system concepts including SCADA and IoT device integration best practices.
  • Knowledge of edge hardware/software devices/systems Network Layer2 switches and communication protocols (ISA95 Level 12).
  • Development and deployment of industrial application/system user interfaces business logic database interfaces device interfaces and analytics.

• Documentation:

  • Create clear and detailed job instruction sheets for both technical and nontechnical personnel.
  • Proficient in technical writing and documentation especially for hardware and software operations.
  • Experience with diagrammatic representations using tools like Microsoft Visio.

• Communication & Training:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction and instructional content creation.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff on new devices and processes.

• Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Work closely with IoT engineers production engineering and maintenance teams.

• Industry Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with industry best practices and standards.
  • Understanding of compliance and security issues related to edge technologies.

• Project Management:

  • Manage industrial projects including design deployment and maintenance.
  • Oversee project reporting requirements analysis estimating scoping proposal building and customer communication.
  • Manage thirdparty supplier activities and deliverables.
  • Deliver projects across 35 different customers.

Education/Training:

• Required: BSEE/BSME (ABET accredited)
• Optional: 1year postBS or workstudy experience in automation and control design. Professional Engineer (PE) registration is desirable but not required.
