Job Description

Role: Senior Business Data Analyst Catalog Steward (Financial Industry)

Location: Montreal QC or Mississauga ON

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Data Analyst with specialized Catalog Steward expertise and a deep understanding of the financial industry. The ideal candidate will bring over 8 years of experience in data analysis and stewardship with a history of implementing governance practices enhancing data quality and managing comprehensive data catalogs within a financial services environment. The Senior Business Data Analyst will be instrumental in driving datacentric initiatives supporting strategic decisionmaking and ensuring the integrity of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Catalog Leadership: Lead the management of the organizations data catalog ensuring efficient data discoverability data quality and compliance with data governance standards within the financial sector.
  2. Data Quality Management: Develop and enforce rigorous data quality frameworks collaborating with data stewards to identify remediate and prevent data quality issues.
  3. Governance and Compliance: Champion data governance initiatives aligning with regulatory requirements specific to the financial industry and ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  4. Strategic Collaboration: Partner with business leaders IT departments and data teams to align data strategies with organizational objectives providing expert guidance on leveraging data as a strategic asset.
  5. Metadata Optimization: Curate and maintain robust metadata for financial datasets ensuring alignment with business semantics and enhancing data lineage and cataloging practices.
  6. Training and Advocacy: Lead educational efforts advocating for the importance of data stewardship across the organization and facilitating training sessions for users on effective data catalog usage.
  7. Analytics and Reporting: Utilize data catalog insights to generate advanced analytics and reports delivering actionable intelligence to inform business decisions and operational improvements within the financial domain.
  8. Tool Mastery and Innovation: Act as the subject matter expert on data catalog tools driving adoption of new technologies and methodologies to maintain a stateoftheart data management environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in information systems Finance Business Administration or related field; masters degree preferred.
  • Over 8 years of handson experience in data analysis and stewardship within the financial industry with a proven track record of implementing data governance and quality initiatives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial data management including regulatory compliance and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing data catalogs and driving crossfunctional data governance projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with data catalog tools data analysis and reporting software.
  • Exceptional analytical organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong communication abilities with expertise in engaging with executivelevel stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Detailoriented with a commitment to precision and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
