Job Description

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports To: Clinical Director and Quality Director

Position Purpose

This position combines responsibilities related to authorizations with those of assessments providing an opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to both areas of our organization. The role has significant potential for growth and evolution as our organization expands and evolves.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

Authorizations/Medical Records (60%):

  • Review and process authorization requests in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with staff MCO and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for authorization processing.
  • Maintain accurate records of authorization requests approvals and denials.
  • Monitor authorization timelines and escalate issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution.
  • Ensure that all medical records are accurately documented and filed correctly in paper and electronic format.
  • Identify and rectify any discrepancies or deficiencies in medical records.
  • Review records for completeness accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

Assessments (40%):

  • Evaluate the urgency and complexity of clients needs to determine appropriate next steps and service priorities.
  • Determine if clients meet medical necessity and criteria for the appropriate level of care.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director to prioritize client cases and allocate resources effectively.
  • Evaluate all incoming referral qualifications based on established criteria at all sites.
  • Make admissions decisions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive and diagnostic assessments of individuals seeking services including gathering information on medical history mental health status social support networks and other relevant factors.
  • Use standardized assessment tools and protocols to evaluate the needs and functioning of clients.
  • Identify risk factors strengths and resources available to the individual.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Masters degree in social work counseling psychology or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW or LCSWA) Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC or LCMHCA) Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS or LCASA) or equivalent in the state of practice.
  • Preferably a minimum of 2 years of postlicensure clinical experience preferably in a mental health or substance abuse treatment setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills with proficiency in utilizing diagnostic criteria and assessment tools to inform treatment planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of evidencebased practices treatment modalities and ethical standards relevant to the field of mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiarity with documentation requirements for reimbursement and quality assurance purposes.
  • Certificates Licenses Registrations: Must maintain licensure and board certification requirements.

Position Type: Fulltime

Salary: $45000 $50000 annually which could be hourly ( We encourage negotiations)

Location: Corporate Office in Greenville with minimal travel to sites if needed
