Job Description:
The General Ledger Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and overseeing all aspects of the general ledger. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage all aspects of the general ledger ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions including accruals prepayments and allocations.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and bank statements on a monthly basis.
- Assist with the monthend and yearend closing processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial data and ensure accurate reporting.
- Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with internal and external audits providing necessary documentation and support.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
- Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
- 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role.
- Previous experience in Agriculture/Construction industry is preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.
