Position Purpose
The Senior Business Analyst provides strategic business analysis services to business partners. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business units to gain indepth understanding of the customers business strategy processes services roadmap and the context in which the business operates. This role will be key to understanding the documenting capabilities needed to address business challenges.
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for reviewing assigned business processes from endtoend to identify and address operational financial and technological risks. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
The work will be performed for the Unemployment Insurance Modernization (UI Mod) Project. The projects overall objective is to replace the existing mainframe system and other components (web portals EDMS etc.) with a commercially available solution built on a modern technology platform. JSND has a hired a vendor to provide a SaaS solution. The project is being done in two phases. The first phase is underway and runs through July 2025. The second project will start fall of 2024 and run through sometime in 2026/2027. BA work performed under this contract will be specifically for JSND needs as they arise. Work on the project will be sporadic.
The initial work to be performed involves analyzing the current UI Tax Rate process and the model used. Our current tax rate model is a complex Excel spreadsheet with numerous tabs and extensive links to several external spreadsheets. This setup includes a series of array formulas with much of the data sourced from our existing legacy system and subsequently imported into an Access Database. Proficiency in crafting complex formulas and an understanding of Access programming is essential for effectively understanding managing and updating this model. There is some documentation for the process although it may be lacking in detail.
