- Requires to be Registered Building Inspector Class 2 A to F.
- The post holder is to actively oversee and assure compliance with the requirements. for the Building Safety Act 2022 Fire Safety Act 2021 and associated statutory building safety management systems required to deliver the building control service.
- The post holder is responsible for determining building control applications of all land uses for buildings up to 20 storeys. To deliver an efficient and high quality service in relation to all technical tasks on building control applications; building control enforcement; quality assurance; corporate enquiries and financial support. To deliver a customer focused service that maintains the market share. To be responsible for record keeping for building control applications to ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act.
Specialist knowledge of building control and appreciates the processes in delivering the statutory building control service. Working knowledge of the use of software packages e.g. MS Word, Excel, Building Control Applications databases, PowerPoint and SAP to manage complex processes. An understanding of how services are provided in a Local Government context and political awareness. An understanding of project management concepts, practices and principles gained through experience. An understanding of the issues and financial constraints facing local government, and particularly the services provided by the units under the post holder s direction. Experience of carrying out building control applications under 20 storeys in a customer orientated environment, and experience of working in a building control team with a city context. Experience of dealing with dangerous structures. Written communication: Presents ideas in a well-structured format and in a manner appropriate to the context and the audience. Able to create a clear brief for action where required. Customer orientation: Constantly strives providing high standards of quality service to achieve customer satisfaction.
