Job Description
Mission / Summary: The Supervisor is the first line leader for the Paper Department and works rotating shift. This position is key to shift operation and productivity supervising the union hourly workforce assigned to the department. The successful candidate will understand and align business operations and Paper as he/she executes their role to exceed expectations and align with Company business cultural financial and operational objectives.
JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Directly supervises 20 30 hourly employees.
- Lead model and maintain an environment of safe work practices.
- Plans and controls production performance as measured against operating targets developed according to machine capabilities manpower capabilities and projected business.
- Verifies that the machine remains within established operating parameters (centerlines).
- Responsible for the planning and monitoring of production performance against key operating targets.
- Ensures compliance to established customer quality and production standards.
- Actively leads and participates in mill safety housekeeping and lean manufacturing programs by ensuring goals are met within the department.
- Ensures completion of all required paperwork schedules work orders etc.
- Verifies all operator rounds are completed and recorded.
Qualifications
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 35 years of supervisory experience
- Selfstarter with demonstrated ability to set expectations and motivate crewmembers toward meeting mill and department goals.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced work environment.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor's degree preferred (Pulp and Paper Science or Engineering a plus)
SKILLS: Skills include but not limited to the following.
- Effective written and verbal communications skills
- Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office Software Excel Word and Outlook
- The incumbent must provide strong leadership and teamwork to ensure safe and efficient operations
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- General schedule is a rotating shift which includes some weekends.
- Occasional overnight travel to include flying driving riding or by rail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
