In consultation with Assistant Teacher Behavior Staff Career Staff Related Service Staff parents/guardians and other professionals as appropriate the High School English Teacher develops and implements individualized education and behavioral programs for each assigned student. In addition they

• Develop Individualized Education Plans for students.
• Prepare quarterly report cards and midquarter reports and IEP progress report narratives.
• Maintain good communication with students’ parents/guardians relevant staff and appropriate professionals outside the school.
• Maintain classroom budget and reports expenditures to supervisor.
• Evaluate students’ current levels of academic and behavioral functioning and periodically reevaluates to make program adjustment.
• Select appropriate instructional materials and strategies based on the curriculum to implement the goals and objectives on the IEP in all required subject areas.
• Organize classroom furniture and equipment to create a pleasant and effective learning environment.
• Actively supervise students throughout the day to ensure safety including but not limited to bus and playground duty.
• Implement individual and group behavior management programs.

What you will need:

• Bachelors Degree required.
• Minimum qualification for a Provisional Certificate in special education at the appropriate level or content area.
• Experience working in special education or a related field preferred.
