Job Description

Safety Manager


Were looking for a Safety Manager for our client in Dover DE.


POSITION SUMMARY


Key to delivering world class products to our customers is the ability to optimize the quality cost and efficiency of our manufacturing processes. This candidate will ensure compliance with all regulations Federal and State requirements and standards for environmental health and safety. This encompasses safety training processes emergencies and injury management incorporating behavioral and technical safety. This position will report to the Director of Safety.

The successful candidate will develop goals and strategies for the health and safety of all employees the environment and facilitate safety and health programs.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Promote safety throughout the organization as a priority.

Engage with staff employees and managers to facilitate safety in all areas.

Identify all hazards and support production and improvement projects while striving to improve processes and support day to day activities through experience applications and skillset.

Safety is to support company vision and improve safety culture to maintain a safe working environment with teamwork

Advise on safety requirements for products equipment and designs to eliminate occupational hazards.

Review safety policies guidelines and standards to determine their consistency with accepted engineering principles and practices and recommend technical changes as needed.

Remove/control hazardous conditions resulting from machine operations equipment and human error that may lead to human injury and/or property damage through recommendations and design of safety features and controls.

Application of professional principles methods and techniques; safetyrelated elements of the physical sciences ergonomics psychology and physiology; and safety principles standards practices analytical techniques and mathematical skills.

Ensure compliance with DNREC OSHA EPA and DOT standards including a comprehensive understanding of the environment.



Requirements

  • BS in the following fields of study: Occupational Safety Ergonomics or Risk Management or closely related field with appropriate experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Training experience: Topics include Powered Industrial Trucks Aerial Lifts Confined Space Entry Respirators Radiation LOTO Contractor Safety PPE Fire Emergency Response and Ergonomics for individual and group audiences.
  • 5 years experience managing EH&S issues in a manufacturing environment with proven track record of results.
  • Experience with wastewater solid waste and air emissions including liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies within OSHA EPA and DNREC.
  • Developing resultsoriented safety programs managing workers compensation programs safety training OSHA compliance industrial hygiene liability control and fire protection.
  • Develops major goals to support broader functional objectives and corporate functionality.
  • Inspect/develop/implement policies and procedures to include routine audits and risk assessments.
  • Audit/implement process for operations regarding existing or potential accidents and health hazards and recommend corrective or preventative measures.
  • Maintain environmental permits for groundwater and air emissions.
  • Approves policies developed within various subfunctions and departments.
  • Support accident and injury investigation process and follow up using lean tools including root cause analysis
  • Experience in Lean Principles and analyzing production and quality processes.
  • Experience leveraging continuous improvement root cause analysis structured problem solving Kaizen TPM and value stream mapping.
  • Positive attitude good judgement keen sense of responsibility ownership and willing to travel.
  • Perform under stress when confronted with emergent critical unusual or dangerous scenarios. Knowledge in the following areas:
    • Manufacturing environment needed including experience in industry.
    • OSHA 29 CFR 1910 regulations for general industry.
    • DOT for hazardous waste material management including shipments and labeling.
    • Environmental experience with Title V Tier II SARA toxic release inventory RCRA hazardous waste storm water requirements REACH RoHS Prop65 and TSCA.
    • Industrial hygiene includes air sampling hearing conservation and respirators.
  • Leadership/competencies that define the successful candidate are:

    • Associate health and safety priority #1 with a desire to build a bestinclass Safety/EHS program.
    • Highly organized can multitask and independently manage projects.

    • Presentation skills with excellent communication in verbal and written presenting to a diverse audience.
    • Selfmotivated and hands on leader committed to working with a diverse team.
    • Ability to critically think through and problem solve with good judgement.
    • Pursues educational opportunities to maintain advanced knowledge of compliance standards.
