Job Vacancy: Senior Tribunals Officer

• Unit/Section: Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

Tasks

Respond to SEND Tribunal Appeals: Write and prepare responses and meet judicial deadlines.

Represent KCC at Hearings: Attend and represent Kent County Council at SEND Tribunal hearings.

Legal Representatives: Assist with the management of appeals.

Chair MultiAgency Meetings: Prepare cases take notes and follow up on actions.

Manage Data: Track appeal trends and maintain accurate data for the Annual Business Plan and ad hoc requests.

Record Financial Spend: Keep accurate records of spending on specialist fees.

Maintain Databases: Ensure local authority databases including Synergy are up to date and accurate.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Degree in Law or Education or equivalent.

Experience:

• Relevant practical experience with parents/carers and schools.
• Customer/serviceuser facing environment.
• Managing conflicting priorities.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Enthusiastic organized and able to work independently.
• Accurate under deadlines with strong ICT skills.

Knowledge:

• Policy and legislation on special educational needs and disabilities.
• Data Protection GDPR and confidentiality issues.
