Job Description

Overview

As a Professor of Psychiatry at our medical college you will play a vital role in educating future medical professionals and providing expert guidance in the field of psychiatry. Your contributions will be integral to shaping the next generation of psychiatrists conducting groundbreaking research and delivering exceptional patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive lectures and educational materials to medical students residents and fellows.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to trainees in psychiatric settings.
  • Conduct original research in psychiatric medicine with a focus on advancing the understanding and treatment of mental health conditions.
  • Oversee and contribute to the development of curriculum and educational programs within the psychiatry department.
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students academic and clinical performance.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and scholarly activities to remain at the forefront of psychiatric knowledge.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and integrated patient care.
  • Contribute to institutional service through committee participation administrative duties and leadership roles as assigned.
  • Provide expert consultation to colleagues within the medical college and healthcare community.
  • Contribute to community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness and reduce stigma related to mental health.

Required qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or equivalent certification board.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of practice.
  • Significant experience in clinical psychiatry including patient care diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Demonstrated track record of scholarly activity including publications presentations or research grants.
  • Experience in teaching and/or mentoring medical students residents or fellows.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting diversity equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to balance clinical educational and administrative responsibilities effectively.
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills with a passion for advancing the field of psychiatry.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to current best practices and evidencebased guidelines in psychiatry.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment for students and colleagues.
  • Experience with innovative and integrative approaches to psychiatric care and education.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
