Job Description

Emergency Management Specialist

Job Title: Emergency Management Specialist

Job Description:

This position is responsible for assisting in thecoordination of emergency preparedness training courses and exercises requiringinvolvement from the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) Division of EmergencyPreparedness (DEP). This positioncoordinates with requesting entities to obtain specific healthcare emergency preparednesstrainings. Furthermore this position provides technical assistance in thedesign of emergency preparedness exercises/drills. This individual will focuson assisting the Training and Exercise Coordinator to complete theaforementioned duties and tasks.

Duties:

Coordinate with DEP planning staff to ensurestaff and external stakeholders are trained to the IDOH response plans

Assist in agency development of specifictraining and educational modules relative to agency plans

Assist in the development of an Integrated PreparednessPlan Workshop (IPPW) annually with IDOHdesignated partners and stakeholders

Assist partners in the development and deliveryof trainings for internal IDOH staff and external stakeholders

Assist external partners with exerciseevaluation and improvement planning

Stay updated on course offerings that are postedon Indiana s training enrollment and tracking system

Help to ensure division exercises follow anallhazards and HSEEP consistent approach

Assist in ensuring that lessons learned andimprovement plans resulting from exercises are communicated to appropriatestaff so that they may be incorporated during updates to plans and procedures

Assist in Coordinating with DEP staff to ensuredivision plans are exercised and staff competencies are evaluated to ensureoptimal functionality

Liaise with other IDOH divisions and programsregarding training and the development of exercises

Assist in providing technical assistance toAgency customers

Liaison with Healthcare Coalition leaders andLocal Health Departments in order to foster a streamlined approach toscheduling training courses

Requirements:

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Public Speaking skills

Excellent writing skills

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Proficiency with Office Suite

Willing to travel for training as necessary

(Not necessary but would like to see healthcareor first responder background)
