Intern in Battery Performance and Operation Optimization wmd

Workload: 80% 100% Duration: 6 months Baden

The Battery and Hybrids team develops battery energy storage systems (BESS) all over Europe and operates battery assets in collaboration with other Axpo hubs. As part of the greater team the Optimization team provides business case valuation and optimization tools for the operation of BESS.As an intern you will work alongside experienced quantitative analysts contributing to our ongoing efforts of optimizing the operation of our battery asset in Sweden and supporting the team in valuating future battery projects. You will gain valuable experience in the valuation and optimization of battery assets and learn about the market settings in the different countries.

What you will do:

• Backtesting the performance of battery operation to assess and improve optimization pipelines.
  
• Further develop price forecasting for ancillary services.
  
• Development and validation of bidding strategies for Day Ahead and ancillary service markets.
  
• Supporting with quantitative analyses used for datadriven decision making.
  
• Deploying analysis into the cloud environment for scalable and robust operations.

What you bring and who you are:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Energy Science engineering computer science applied mathematics natural science or another quantitative field.
  
• Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  
• Basic understanding of battery technologies and energy markets.
  
• Strong programming skill in Python.
  
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  
• Fluency in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
