The Assembly Department Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the consistent production of furniture through the management of assembly operations and oversight of employees. A strong woodworking background along with good leadership and supervisory skills is a must. The Assembly Department Supervisor will oversee and maintain production standards quality and safety within their department and mentor and train all assemblers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Direct the activities of the Assemblers on first shift and work with 2nd shift Assembly Lead to direct activities on that shift as well.
Provide the necessary training to the Assemblers
Work closely with other Department Supervisors in achieving company goals and objectives
Schedule and prioritize work based on production schedules and available resources
Coordinate with the Machining Department for maximum efficiency
Ensure pieces are assembled to quality specifications using approved procedures and meeting all production deadlines
Monitor machine maintenance facilitate repairs and make recommendations for equipment purchases
Assist with new hire interviewing and administration of performance reviews
Maintain good communication with Human Resource Department regarding requests for hiring terminations performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions.
Maintain compliance to company policies and procedures
Lead the department in continuous improvement regarding safety lean manufacturing and quality.
Maintain clean department free of safety hazards
Ensure employees reporting to this position are following safety rules and regulations and machine guarding is accurately in place always.
Maintain accurate record keeping
Administer company policies and procedures fairly and consistently within the department
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Standing and walking on production floors which are concrete for up to 10 hours at a time as needed. (rubber matting is provided at work stations)
Ability to distinguish colors
Normal hearing and range of vision
Requires standing walking bending reaching stooping twisting bending pushing pulling frequently though out the work shift
Requires the safe and effective use of a router in close contact to fingers
Requires the use of the CNC Machines saws and mallets
Required to frequently lift up to 40 lbs.
May not have allergies to plastic/poly and/or cardboard
Ability to work in hot/cool work environment
Ability to work in a noisy work environment
Floors may become slippery from fluff that is a biproduct of the production process
Requirements :
Prior Woodworking experience preferred
35 years of Supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment
Prior experience working with routers saws hand tools etc.
Requires basic math skills
Ability to recognize and correct poor performance
Ability to troubleshoot equipment when necessary
Great attention to detail
Ability to read write and communicate in English use a computer and reason and problem solve
Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
Ability to work 10hour shifts and overtime as required
Should always lead by example
