Position Overview: The Accounting Assistant will support the finance department by performing a variety of accounting and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Assist with processing accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Verify and reconcile invoices and expense reports.
- Prepare and issue payment checks and electronic transfers.
- Data Entry and Record Keeping:
- Enter financial data into accounting software and maintain accurate records.
- Update and maintain accounting journals ledgers and other records detailing financial transactions.
- Bank Reconciliation:
- Assist in reconciling bank statements and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare bank deposits and process bank transactions.
- MonthEnd Closing:
- Assist with monthend closing activities including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Administrative Support:
- Provide general administrative support to the finance department.
- Handle correspondence filing and document management.
- Schedule meetings and maintain calendars for the finance team.
- Compliance and Auditing:
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Accounting Finance or related field; Bachelors degree preferred.
- Proven experience as an Accounting Assistant or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word).
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational and timemanagement skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
