We are currently looking for an Registered Practical Nurse / Wellness Nurse interested in a fulltime or parttime position in the Greater Sudbury Area.

Competitive Compensation:
$33 $37 / hr

Our Resident Services team provides comfortable retirement living services catering to the physical social emotional and spiritual needs of all residents who wish to maintain or regain an independent lifestyle. We deliver our mission by adhering to ORCA & RHA standards focusing on continuous quality improvement infection prevention and control best practices in health and safety and ongoing staff training.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Practical Nurse (minimum) with the College of Nurses.
Theoretical and applied knowledge of the Practice Standards set out by the Ontario College of Nurses.
Willingness to stay updated on changing regulations practices and procedures as set out by the Ontario College of Nurses.
Empathy and understanding of the needs of the elderly and/or mentally/physically disabled.
Ability to relate to all levels of staff residents and their families with patience tolerance and confidentiality.
Initiative good judgment and leadership abilities.
Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Efficient in a fastpaced environment.
Good communication skills both oral and written. Good public relations skills.
Familiarity with the standards set out in the Retirement Homes Act 2010 (RHA) and the functions of the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA).
Good attendance record.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within 6 months of employment start date).
TB testing is required.
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset with preference given to bilingual candidates.
Free from communicable diseases & proof of COVID19 vaccination required.
Must be available to work evenings weekends and participate in an oncall rotation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Create review and update care plans for all residents/tenants prior to movein and every six months thereafter; ensure residents sign off on care plans and receive copies.
Handle new resident/tenant movein charting: meet and greet new residents/tenants take initial vitals and weight.
Organize pictures for new resident/tenant charts fire plan binder med program and care plans. Include Name Suite # and a brief description of mobility/cognitive issues or independence in the fire binder medication binder and chart.
Ensure all necessary information is obtained for resident and tenant files.
Monitor new residents/tenants adjustment to their new living environment.
Monitor resident/tenant and family satisfaction.
Ensure Resident Services documentation is complete as per College of Nurses nursing documentation guidelines.
Advise the Resident Services Staff (RSS) regarding medical interventions treatment requirements and other aspects within their scope of resident/tenant care as unregulated care providers.
Review the 24hour shift report DAILY and follow up in writing on any incidents or notations in the resident/tenant chart of shift ensuring clear concise reporting to oncoming staff at shift completion.
Monitor resident services and residents general physical and emotional wellbeing discreetly to encourage a feeling of independence and privacy.
Facilitate appropriate contact with other health care and educational facilities.
Maintain relationships with residents/tenants.
Respond to all emergency calls during work hours ensuring emergency medical care is provided when necessary.
Follow up on all incident reports ensuring appropriate completion.
Complete postfall assessments and reports on residents/tenants documenting in the care plan when necessary.
Ensure safe medication and treatment administration practices conduct and record regular audits of these practices with RSS.
Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained related to resident services administration of medications and treatment while maintaining confidentiality.
Execute protocol for expected and unexpected deaths as per the policy in the Resident Services Department manual.
Administer medications as required following policy training and standards set by the Ontario College of Nurses.
Order weekly medication as required.
Maintain knowledge of residents on the medication administration program and the medications they receive.
Update daytoday medication changes transcribe new orders and adjust medication pouches to coincide with orders received following the standards and decision tree set by the Ontario College of Nurses for delegation to an Unregulated Care Provider (UCP).
Receive and verify pouches and blister packs against MAR sheets and doctors orders to ensure accuracy of the administration process in conjunction with the Administrator.
