Job Description

SUMMARY: Overall responsibility to install maintain troubleshoot repair or modify complex industrial electrical and electronic equipment and systems by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot DC & AC Drives DC & AC Motors plc s and control circuits
  • Read and understand drawings (P&ID s control diagrams wiring diagrams and ladder logic)
  • Assist in the installation calibration and startup of new equipment.
  • Occasional new wiring installations where running conduit is required
  • Recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment where needed to improve operability.
  • Maintain working environment in a neat orderly and safe manner.
  • Perform record keeping and administrative duties as required.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from twoyear college or technical school; plus three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in oneonone and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to high precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
