Job Summary:
Undertake the full range of Metrology functions including inspection verification if necessary and auditing and administration of weights and measures equipment to ensure that is accurate and suitable. Capable of undertaking project work and supporting the team by taking on service requests requiring desktop investigation or potential visits. Must be able to drive a transit van. Contract 2.5 days per week for a period of 3 months with potential to be extended. This post is hybrid involving home working and on site working. Candidate must be willing and able to undertake operational work across the Kingston and Sutton Shared Environmental Service and potentially take weights and measures equipment for testing outside of the borough.
Key Duties/Accountabilities:
To develop implement and enforce policies in connection with the Trading Standards function.
Determine the most appropriate intervention to be taken to resolve a request for assistance whether this be informal or initiating legal proceedings involving the preparation and giving evidence in court.
To keep abreast of all relevant new and draft legislation advice and other developments relevant to delivering the Council s Trading Standards service.
Responsibility for the timely investigation of complaints including programmed inspections and use of appropriate interventions in line with the Camden Plan priorities and enforcement policies.
To be selfdirecting and to take responsibility for their own learning and development and be confident to identify opportunities for innovation to improve the service in terms of creating and improving policies and procedures particularly through the evaluation and review of case work performance and customer feedback.
To assist in the identification design and delivery of projects that improve the services response to reducing risks and impact of noncompliance with legislation on the community.
To investigate and manage caseload with competing priorities.
Provide advice and assistance to the public businesses and other agencies
Essential Experience Required:
The potential candidate is required to have experience working in an "agile" way in line with the Councils move to a flexible and paperless work environment prioritising their own work within the empowered and enabled team culture recognising and utilising the expertise of others where appropriate.
Essential Qualifications Required:
A fully qualified Trading Standards professional who has Board of Trade / DTS or equivalent with weights and measures competency
