Job Description

Job Title:Test & Release Manager (FTC)

Overview:

The purpose of the role is to plan manage and deliver testing activities for IB and to assist SA colleagues to undertake local testing. The role also includes release management engaging with Group IT to ensure test environments are fully prepared and planning the release of new functionality to IBs and SAs production environments.

The scope of the role is focused on testing for significant system changes including deployment of new systems primarily as part of Group or IB/SA projects including front office middle office and backoffice systems in addition to testing related to digital platform deployments where required. Significant upgrades to core systems are also in scope whilst testing for BAU changes bug fixes etc is excluded.

What You Will Be Doing:

With regard to the testing element of the role:

  • Maintain a testing strategy for projects that minimises the impact on BAU and project staff.
  • Utilise standard testing tools to capture the test scripts and results.
  • For local and Groupled project initiatives plan the required testing activities engage relevant colleagues execute the test scripts/ensure test scripts are executed resolve any issues and record the results.
  • Always look for ways to improve the testing activities and daytoday tasks that colleagues undertake.
  • Engage with Group IT to ensure the test environments are accurately maintained and that access is available to colleagues engaged in testing. Test environments cover the endtoend process and include URBIS Trade Innovation Receivables Database etc and all downstream reports P&L Balance Sheet TM1 MR2000 etc.
  • Be the contact point for any refresh or End of Day requests relating to project changes.
  • Develop best practices and frameworks with respect to project testing and provide advice guidance and support as required to colleagues conducting testing.
  • Provide and execute test plans for testing workstreams within wider projects for example testing workstream for ABC Cash.
  • When using external partners for testing activities act as the key interface between ABCIB & ABC SA and the vendor.
  • Continuously develop knowledge of our banking systems and applications.
  • Maintain suitable records with respect to execution and approval of testing including test scripts test results.
  • Identify and support opportunities to improve testing in conjunction with Group IT including potential deployment of testing automation and/or enhanced third party testing arrangements.

With regard to the release element of the role:

  • Engage with IB and Group IT to plan and implement changes to IBs and SAs core banking systems.
  • Raise service desk requests for the releases providing a full description of the change and ensuring all relevant approvals are obtained and being the point of contact for any queries.
  • Attend Change Advisory Boards both at Group and local level to ensure the planned releases are fully understood by IB and SA system owners.
  • Provide support post the release to ensure that any issues can be resolved quickly.
  • Engage with BAU resources to ensure that all changes are clearly understood and that updates to their processes and procedures are fully documented and implemented.
  • Represent IB and where necessary SA on all IT related meetings including engagement with Group IT to determine upcoming release schedule.
  • Support programme/project managers and system owners as required with regard to the communication of releases.
  • Monitor post live validation/incidents as required and support any remediation/fixes from a testing/ deployment perspective if required.

Candidate Specification:
  • Detailed knowledge of systems used at Bank ABC would be an advantage K KTP URBIS CAS.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint VISIO Excel and Word) is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of JIRA and other testing tools is essential.
  • Significant experience in a similarsized bank environment to understand how the different systems and departments are interlinked.
  • Strong experience of test planning execution and results recording.
  • Solid track record of issue resolution and conflict management.
  • Good experience of release management and liaison with technical departments.
  • Selfstarter with good initiative able to work without close supervision.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and spoken).
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to document findings clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrates resilience reacts positively to changes and maintains poise
  • focus and flexibility when encountering difficulties or obstacles.
  • Able to adapt working style to the many cultures at ABCIB.
  • Transparent honest and committed to high quality delivery.
