Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
This position focuses on the electrical mechanical and environmental testing and evaluation of new and existing electromechanical medical devices. Key duties include handling test stands setting up performing and monitoring testing activities.
Principal Accountabilities
- Product Testing: Conduct tests in the Reliability Test Lab according to specifications from Product and Reliability Engineering.
- Guidance Compliance: Follow instructions from the Reliability Test Manager Lab Supervisor and Test Engineers on safe working procedures equipment usage data recording and result monitoring.
- Test Execution: Perform all tests as directed ensuring accurate and timely documentation of results and communicate findings to relevant engineering personnel.
- Destructive Testing: Perform teardown or test to failure activities during the product development process.
- Validation and Verification: Verify and validate proposed or implemented changes to existing products and test competitive products as part of new product development.
- Failure Analysis Participation: Collaborate with project engineers in product failure analysis and suggest design improvements based on observations and test results.
- Equipment Setup: Set up various electrical mechanical and electronic equipment including environmental chambers life test equipment productspecific test equipment mechanical gauges and electrical/electronic meters.
- Documentation: Design and document testing configurations and setups and create reports to document test results.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years in testing lab or related experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of electromechanical systems and ability to identify mechanical electrical or system abnormalities.
- HandsOn Skills: Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook with strong verbal writing and organizational skills for maintaining records and providing data to project engineers and managers.
- Measurement Equipment: Background with measurement test equipment.
- Pneumatics Knowledge: Working knowledge of pneumatics.
- Drawing and Schematic Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
- Mechanical Gauging: Experience with mechanical gauging and instruments like micrometers calipers force gauges dial indicators and hardness testers.
- Environmental Testing: Experience with environmental compliance testing (shock vibration thermal humidity electromagnetic etc.) is a plus.
- PLC and Microcontrollers: Knowledge of PLC Ladder Logic and microcontrollers is a plus.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Education & Experience
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required; an AA Degree is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 12 years of mechanical or electrical experience is strongly preferred or engineering graduates with some intern experience.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills are necessary.
