Context:
Under general guidance of IOM Qatar CAS Head of Office and Senior Operations Officer, the overall supervision of the Program Manager (Education), and direct supervision of the Education Officer, this role encompasses supporting the Education team with program activities.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of educational activities within the Education Center.
- Work closely with the school Teachers. Contribute to ensure that all activities implemented within the Education Center are planned out and addresses the beneficiaries’ interests and needs whilst promoting inclusion and cultural diversity.
- Ensure that all relevant project data (attendance lists, lesson plans, schedules, etc.) is accurately collected, archived, and updated on a daily and weekly basis, including breakdown reports on age and gender.
- Assist to identify beneficiaries with good teaching skills and support them in organizing peer learning groups, non-formal learning activities and community-based teaching initiatives.
- Regularly keep track of the beneficiaries’ attendance records as well as performance and learning progress for evaluation.
- Participate in relevant meetings related to the project.
- Contribute to the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and project regulations, as developed in the framework of the project.
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific education topics.
- Draft activity reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
- Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications And Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience, or
- High School diploma with four years of relevant experience.
Experience
- Experience working for the United Nations, an official mission, non-governmental organization, or relevant government department a distinct advantage.
- Experience in providing non-formal education activities to children and adults.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
- Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles
Skills
- Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills.
- Ability to clearly and concisely draft reports.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel, and Internet.
- Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.
- Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines in challenging settings.
- Capacity to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various cultures and professional backgrounds.
Languages
IOM's official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
Required
For this position, fluency in English is required
DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of Arabic, Dari and Pashto is desirable.
