VA Business Hours: 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Clinic or Operating Room (OR) Schedule: 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. with a 30minute lunch

Length of assignment: 1 year and possible 4 year renewal depending on performance

Description:

• Physicians (s) shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the governments requirements including the ability to speak understand read and write English fluently
• All candidates must have a current license to practice medicine in any State Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• All candidates must be Citizen of the United States.
• All candidates must be currently certified in VHAapproved Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalency and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Physician candidate is experienced in the specialty required and is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field within the last five years.
• All persons are compared against and are not listed on the OIG excluded parties list.

Direct Patient Care: Estimated 95% of the time involved in direct patient care. Candidates shall be responsible for clinic appointments and followup of labs/imaging/procedures ordered during these appointments interpretation phone call consultation from hospitalists and intensivists on inpatients and availability for case review with nurse practitioners on service.

Scope of Care: Candidates shall be responsible for providing Family Practice and interventional Family Practice consultative services for: assessment diagnostic workup and clinic intervention including comprehensive patient assessment health history physical examination and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting; outpatient include both scheduled and unscheduled Veterans. Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate recommend treatment and/or referral. Record/document health appraisal information clinical assessments treatment decision plan of care ongoing management and therapeutic outcomes order medications diagnostic test and referral consultations where needed for every patient encounter; recording will be accomplished using the electronic comprehensive patient record system (CPRS) and will be completed on the day of the encounter.
