Chemist

JOB SUMMARY:

.

Perform standard physical and chemical tests on raw materials process and finished goods.

.

Assist in method development and refinement of new and existing test methods.

.

Participate in product development by assisting with formulation testing making laboratory samples and conducting stability studies on new and existing products.

.

Participate in the documentation of the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) by documenting and maintaining records generated by assigned activities and suggesting improvements for assigned procedures work instructions forms and other documents that are included in our QMS.

.

Assist in the continuous development of the ISO9001:2015 QMS by participating in the analysis of nonconformances/batch deviations and becoming involved in root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions.

.

Participate in analysis of data generated by the Company’s QMS and thereby determine data trends and recommend preventive actions if necessary.

.

Assist with the development implementation and review of the Food Safety Systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Laboratory and Production

.

Monitor operations on the production line at regular intervals daily to ensure proper filling capping labeling coding sealing and packaging of finished products in accordance with quality standards.

.

Retain samples of each product in the designated area.

.

Perform microbiological swabs on factory facilities and equipment in the absence of the microbiologist.

.

Check all labels and unit cartons received from printers to ensure conformance to quality standards.

.

Conduct research on assigned retention samples to determine shelf life and possible causes of deterioration if any.

.

Maintain a proper filing system for all laboratory files and research data.

.

Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on all production batches in accordance with the standard specification.

.

Perform chemical analysis on tap water; in the absence of the microbiologist perform chemical analysis on the wash water and sanitized water.

.

Issuing approval tags when all production batches are in accordance with standard specifications and when all relevant documentation is complete.

.

Labeling all containers/drums containing raw materials in process and in bulk for easy identification.

.

Performing necessary quantitative and qualitative analysis on all incoming raw materials.

.

In the absence of the Quality Control Manager release raw/packaging material for production as well as release bulk products for packaging for which tests were done by Assistant Chemist(s).

.

Updating the Company’s enterprise resource planner Business Central regarding approval of raw materials and salable goods.

.

In the absence of the Quality Control Manager release production batches for which tests were done by Assistant Chemist(s).

.

In the absence of the Quality Control Manager approve the use of tanks filters and fillers for use in production providing that the results of the necessary quality control tests are satisfactory.

Product Development & Improvement

.

Participate in the selection of processes materials and equipment for new products.

.

Participate in research formulation of products and identifying testing procedures.

.

Make the required laboratory samples for consumer and statutory purposes.

.

Do necessary stability and other tests to ensure product and process integrity.

Personnel

.

Assist in ensuring that personnel execute their functions in accordance with Company standards & policies GMP and statutory requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENT/SPECIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related areas.

Work Experience: 1 year’s experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in the

pharmaceutical or food processing industry.
