Job Description

As a Baggage Operations Manager at Airport Name you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe handling of baggage throughout the airport terminal. Working closely with airport staff airlines and ground handling companies you will ensure that baggage handling operations meet regulatory requirements service standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Baggage Handling Operations Management:

    • Supervise and coordinate all aspects of baggage handling operations including checkin sorting loading and transfer processes.
    • Ensure adherence to safety protocols security regulations and industry best practices in baggage handling operations.
    • Monitor and optimize baggage flow to minimize delays mishandling and lost luggage incidents.
  2. Team Leadership and Training:

    • Lead and mentor a team of baggage handlers supervisors and support staff to achieve performance targets and service goals.
    • Provide training guidance and feedback to staff on baggage handling procedures equipment operation and customer service standards.
  3. Equipment and Facility Management:

    • Oversee the maintenance and operation of baggage handling equipment conveyor systems and related infrastructure.
    • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure timely repairs upgrades and preventive maintenance of baggage handling facilities.
  4. Customer Service and Communication:

    • Liaise with airlines ground handling agents and other airport stakeholders to address customer inquiries complaints and service requests related to baggage handling.
    • Maintain effective communication channels to provide realtime updates on baggage status flight delays and other relevant information to passengers and airline representatives.
  5. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

    • Implement quality control measures and performance metrics to monitor and evaluate baggage handling processes and service levels.
    • Conduct regular audits inspections and safety checks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements industry standards and company policies.
  6. Emergency Response and Contingency Planning:

    • Develop and implement contingency plans and emergency procedures for handling baggage disruptions flight cancellations or other operational disruptions.
    • Coordinate with airport authorities airlines and emergency response teams to address incidents and minimize disruptions to baggage services.


Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in aviation management logistics or a related field (preferred).
  • Previous experience in airport operations baggage handling or logistics management.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations safety standards and industry best practices related to baggage handling operations.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders including passengers airline representatives and airport personnel.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software applications used in baggage handling operations.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours including evenings weekends and holidays as required by airport operations.
