Playing a crucial role within the preconstruction phase the Estimator will ensure both accurate and competitive project cost estimate in line with the company s polices and processes. Securing profitable projects through a wellinformed and comprehensive bidding process is essential to supporting the growth of the company.
Requirements
What the role will involve for the Estimator:
- Build up rates for labour plant material and subcontract from first principles.
- Carry out takeoffs from drawings and/or BIM CAD models.
- Ensure all tender deliverables are met within agreed timescales.
- Complete tender appraisals within agreed timescales.
- Prepare prices and tender submissions with the most advantageous and accurate net bids. All in line with any framework agreements and rates.
- Make sure tenders make sufficient allowance for any health and safety issues.
- Help mentor junior members of the estimating team.
What we are looking for in the Estimator:
- A proven history of successful bidding and securing of projects.
- A competent and detailed knowledge of construction materials methods and best practices.
- An understanding of the utility sector.
- Relevant qualification within construction management or civil engineering.
- A proactive approach with the ability to handle multiple projects and work under pressure meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
