Job Description
Job Title: Db2 for z/OS Database Administrator
Section/Unit Name: Db2 z/OS DBA
Role Description: An IBM Db2 for z/OS Database Administrator is an individual with significant experience as a DBA and extensive knowledge of Db2 z/OS and applications up to and including Db2 12 for z/OS. This individual is capable of performing intermediate to advanced tasks related to database design implementation operation recovery security and auditing.
Responsibilities:
- Database modeling using design tools
- Database design definition implementation and maintenance
- Development of triggers and stored procedures
- Support developers needs & requirements from databases
- Support Test Quality and production environments
- Implementation of database change requests in Test Quality and production
- Fulfill data requirements for development and Quality environments
- Manage data transfer between DB2 for z/OS databases and external entities
- Coding schemas EBCDIC/ASCII/Unicode support
- Prepare and execute SQL Queries on request
- Participate in the problem/change processes
- Troubleshoot WebSphere MQ applications
- Support IBM IDAA (accelerator)
- Manage applications Db2 z/OS security
- Participate in DB2 for z/OS database backup and recovery
- Run DB2 for z/OS utilities
- Provide support for enterprise backup (flash VTS) and recovery
- Participate in Disaster Recovery tests
- Utilize tools to monitor database and application performance and troubleshoot issues
- Utilize replication tools
- Perform SQL query performance tuning
Education/Qualifications/Certifications:
- Bachelors Degree preferably with a major in Information Technology or Computing Science
- Professional training and certificates
Skills:
Technical Skills: Required:
- DBA
- Performance tuning
- SQL coding and tuning
- JCL
- Advantage: REXX CLIST
- Advantage: IBM system automation
- Advantage: Db2 for z/OS Programming
- Presentation/Training/skill transfer
- Other DBMS knowledge

- Good written and verbal English
- Good interpersonal skills
- Selfmotivated and able to work independently
Experience Requirements:
- 5 years of proven working experience in Db2 for ZOS Database administration Db2 for z/OS tools Db2 for z/OS utilities and Db2 z/OS monitoring tools.
Other Requirements:
- Familiarity with CICS MQ and WAS for z/OS.
