Database Architect

Job Role:

A Database Architect is responsible for designing implementing and managing the database systems that store and organize an organization s data. This role involves working closely with developers system administrators and business analysts to ensure that databases are designed to meet the performance scalability and security needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Design and Architecture: Develop and maintain the database architecture data models and standards for various applications.
  
• Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance ensuring efficient data retrieval and storage.
  
• Data Security: Implement and manage security protocols to protect sensitive data from breaches and unauthorized access.
  
• Backup and Recovery: Design and implement backup and recovery plans to safeguard data integrity and availability.
  
• Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to integrate databases with applications and ensure proper functionality.
  
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of the database structure processes and best practices.
  
• Compliance: Ensure databases comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior database administrators and other IT staff.
  

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field. A Master s degree is a plus.
  
• Experience: At least 57 years of experience in database administration design and architecture.
  
• Certification in database management or related areas (e.g. Oracle Certified Professional Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).
  
• Experience with big data technologies and frameworks.
  
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  

Requirements

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Cassandra.
  
• Strong understanding of SQL and database programming languages.
  
• Experience with data warehousing data modeling and ETL processes.
  
• Knowledge of cloud database services (e.g. Azure SQL Database).
  
• Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  
• Understanding of data security and encryption methods.
