Job Description

As a Purchasing Manager you will oversee a team responsible for the procurement of products essential to the companys operations. You must maintain a deep understanding of the companys supply chain to track identify and process acquisitions. Success in this role will be exhibited by implementing costefficient purchasing strategies throughout the procurement cycle.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee inventory of materials and equipment
  • Collaborate with finance and production teams
  • Predict and monitor inventory levels
  • Identify operational improvements through metrics analysis
  • Organize and plan purchasing schedules across various time frames
  • Develop and maintain records of purchases and stock
  • Seek and negotiate with suppliers building a vendor network


Requirements

  • 5 years in management and procurement
  • Proficient in Excel and cloudbased systems for inventory and purchasing
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Capable of making reliable decisions
  • Holds a Bachelors in Business Supply Chain Logistics or Management with an MBA being advantageous
  • Knowledgeable in contract law and purchasing practices

Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Paper Science, or a related field with at least five years of experience in the paper industry, including five years in leadership roles. Alternatively, over ten years of direct experience in paper production with at least five years in supervisory positions. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, specifically related to the paper production process. Ability to set and achieve short-term and long-term strategic goals. Experience in mentoring and leading teams by example. Capacity to initiate and manage change for continuous performance improvement. Organizational skills and the ability to implement necessary changes based on business needs. In-depth knowledge of integrated mill operations. Proficiency in managing different levels of an operational area and engaging with various organizational levels. Experience with reliability and continuous improvement methods. Preferred: Experience in a unionized setting and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kepner Tregoe, or similar analytical tools.
