Job Description

Are you passionate about robotics and eager to make a significant impact in lifescience research Join goodbot a cuttingedge robotics startup in Freiburg Germany dedicated to revolutionizing biomedical research with innovative technology. Our flagship product the goodbot is a pioneering agile pipetting assistant designed specifically for researchers. It automates the critical but often manual and errorprone pipetting process enhancing accuracy efficiency and preventing strain injuries among researchers.

Tasks

As a Lead Hardware Developer you will play a crucial role in the heart of our development team. You will work both independently and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to design develop and test the hardware aspects of goodbot. This position offers a rich experience in electronics robotics mechanical engineering and life sciences all while contributing to the advancement of our robotic solutions. The position is based in Freiburg and offers flexible working hours.

What you will do:

  • Lead the design and development of new hardware features.
  • Ensure the hardware design aligns with product requirements and user needs.
  • Collaborate with the software team to integrate hardware and software seamlessly.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and debugging of hardware components.
  • Research and implement new and emerging technologies to enhance product capabilities.
  • Develop detailed documentation and guidelines for hardware development processes.
  • Mentor and guide junior hardware engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Robotics Embedded Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in hardware development particularly in robotics or automation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and hardware design tools.
  • Strong understanding of electronics microcontrollers and sensor integration.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex hardware issues.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Nice to have:
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance for biomedical devices.
  • Understanding of embedded systems and firmware development.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
