The Environmental Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing environmental safety protocols and procedures within the organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations conducting safety audits and implementing programs to minimize environmental risks and maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Compliance:
Develop implement and monitor environmental policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with local national and international environmental regulations.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential environmental hazards.
2. Safety Program Development:
Design and implement environmental safety programs to minimize risks.
Provide training and support to employees on environmental safety practices.
Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
3. Environmental Impact Assessments:
Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects and existing operations.
Monitor and report on environmental performance and sustainability metrics.
Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to implement environmentally friendly practices.
4. Incident Management:
Lead investigations into environmental incidents and accidents.
Develop and implement corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
Maintain records of incidents and ensure timely reporting to regulatory bodies.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
Liaise with government agencies industry bodies and community groups on environmental matters.
Represent the company in environmental forums and public hearings.
Communicate environmental performance and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
6. Sustainability Initiatives:
Drive sustainability initiatives and promote a culture of environmental stewardship.
Identify opportunities for waste reduction resource conservation and energy efficiency.
Support the development and implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
7. Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on the latest environmental regulations and industry best practices.
Propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives for environmental safety programs.
Monitor industry trends and adjust environmental programs accordingly.
Professional certification in environmental management (e.g. NEBOSH ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) is preferred.
Proven experience as an Environmental Safety Manager or similar role preferably in the oil and gas industry.
Indepth knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in environmental management software and MS Office Suite.
Knowledge of the Saudi market and regulatory environment is an advantage.
