Description
- This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit which develops multiple Blue Moon lander product lines.
- As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists technicians and engineers you will help design the next generation of cryogenic valves for use on our Lunar program. Your scope will encompass the complete life cycle of the system from definition interfaces conceptual design detailed design component development assembly verification and operation. You will own your components from initial design to analyzing data from their landing on the moon! You will design and perform 1st order analyses to verify your designs. You will work with suppliers or Blue Origin groups to identify and procure components.
- You will build Lunar vehicles in CAD by modeling valves propulsion elements sensors piping and other equipment in the flight vehicle. You will size select material and analyze flow and structural integrity under pressure vibration temperature and mechanical loads.
- You will work with suppliers and other support organizations to procure fabricate and install flight hardware.
- You may mentor entry level engineers and perform technical peer reviews.

Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Aerospace or related field
- 23 years of experience in valve and or mechanicalfluids component design
- Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components (i.e. valves regulators and pumps for cryogenics propellants and other fluids)
- Experience designing parts in CREO
- Ability to apply GD&T to create manufacturable high performing component drawings
- Experience using design analysis tools such as ANSYS and Thermal Desktop to evaluate the performance of your designs
- Ability to define and support testing of your design conduct data analysis and iterate your design
- Ability to earn trust maintain positive and professional relationships and contribute to a culture of collaboration and inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
- Advanced Engineering degree
- Experience with static and nonlinear FEA analysis (ANSYS)
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance
