Overview: We are seeking a diligent and hardworking Grafting Technician to join our agricultural team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing grafting tasks to support the propagation of plants. This role requires attention to detail manual dexterity and a basic understanding of plant care.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Grafting Operations:

   • Perform grafting tasks including preparing rootstocks and scions making precise cuts and securing grafts.
   • Monitor grafted plants for signs of successful union and health.

2. Plant Care:

   • Assist in the care and maintenance of grafted plants including watering fertilizing and pest management.
   • Ensure that grafted plants are properly labeled and tracked.

3. Quality Control:

   • Inspect grafts to ensure they meet quality standards and identify any issues that may affect plant health.
   • Address and resolve any problems related to grafting techniques or plant health.

4. Record Keeping:

   • Maintain accurate records of grafting activities including the types of plants grafted dates of grafting and success rates.
   • Prepare reports on grafting outcomes and any observations related to plant growth and development.

5. Tool Maintenance:

   • Clean and maintain grafting tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
   • Follow safety protocols when using sharp tools and handling plants.

6. Collaboration:

   • Work closely with other team members to ensure grafting activities align with overall propagation schedules and goals.
   • Assist in other nursery or greenhouse tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0 to 1 year of experience in grafting or a related field; training will be provided for candidates with no prior experience.
• Basic knowledge of plant biology and horticulture is a plus.
• Good manual dexterity and handeye coordination.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience in a nursery greenhouse or agricultural setting.
• Basic understanding of different grafting techniques (e.g. whip grafting cleft grafting).
• Familiarity with pest control and plant disease management.
