Job Description

This is a remote position.

Partner Staffing is currently working with our client looking for a skilled Wetland Biologist. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting wetland assessments monitoring wetland health and providing expert advice on wetland conservation and management. This role requires a blend of fieldwork data analysis and reporting ensuring the protection and sustainable use of wetland ecosystems in the Alberta region.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Field Surveys and Assessments:

Conduct wetland delineations identification and functional assessments.

Identify and classify wetland types based on provincial and federal guidelines.

Collect and analyze soil water and vegetation samples.

Monitor wetland hydrology and wildlife habitat.

Data Analysis and Reporting

Analyze field data to assess wetland health and ecological function.

Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for mapping and spatial analysis.

Interpret and apply relevant environmental regulations and policies.


Project Management and Collaboration:

Coordinate and manage wetland projects from inception to completion.

Collaborate with clients government agencies and other stakeholders.


Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with provincial and federal wetland regulations.

Prepare permit applications and support regulatory reviews.


Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in Biology Agrology Environmental Science or Ecology

Minimum of 5 years of experience in wetland assessment and management.



About the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control) Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets: Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) Fish identification Bird survey methodology and bird identification Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification Erosion and Sediment Control Plant identification Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered: Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection) Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License. Lastly, you will be joining with the passion to contribute and believe in the work that they do.
