Job Description

Company Overview: Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse with experience in providing healthcare in a correctional setting. The Licensed Practical Nurse ensures that the quality of patient care is upheld administers medications assists with daily activities and supports the healthcare team to ensure the smooth operation of medical services.

Position Summary: The successful candidate shall possess a valid Virginia LPN license. This is a minimum of 6months contract job.

Available Shifts:

7 pm 7:30 am
8 pm 8:30 am
5 am 5:30 pm
7:30 am 7:30 pm
8 am 5:30 pm (MonFri)
Responsibilities:

Delivers evidencebased nursing care using the nursing process and general nursing principles under the direction of a Registered Nurse following Standards of Practice.
Screens for sick call administers medications and offers first aid and basic life support as necessary.
Maintains communication with security and treatment staff providing input for treatment plans.
Records all relevant information in medical records.
Collaborates with other departments as required.
Promotes ongoing competence through education and certification in correctional nursing.
Nurses must be flexible with assigned hours days and locations with an availability to provide coverage as needed to meet institutional requirements.
Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia LPN license issued by the board of nursing or a multistate compact license (if you are a recent graduate of a nursing program in VA and not licensed the NCLEXPN exam must be scheduled at the time of application)
Required certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers through American Heart Association (AHA) or client (ARC) upon hire.
Necessary Attributes:

Proven capability to screen physical complaints and appropriately refer cases to medical professionals.
Skilled in implementing providers orders for treatments and maintaining accurate documentation.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
